Hello from rainy and cold New Hampshire,
This whole global warming thing just isn't working out.
Being up in northern climes, I see that Calgary, Canada has turned into a lake. I really don't know why or how people even live up here. As the reporter from Calgary stated, "It's just doom and gloom out here". That's how it feels here in New Hampshire. Although, at Porcfest, I'm at least surrounded by peaceful peace. In Calgary, in typical Canadian style, they describe the flood in hockey terms. The hockey stadium, the Saddledome, is now under water to the 14th row. Hopefully the deluge has washed away the thousands of homeless, non-productive street people.
Of course, the usual suspect climate change people will be dragged out to blame for the storm. People will come out crying how we need to tax everyone more because the weather changed. Perhaps the funniest thing I ever hear is when Kanadians talk about how we must prevent global warming…They could use the heat.
SAFETY
I flew up to the Empire from Mexico. On my way here, I first left from Acapulco, which was completely civilized. From the time you exit your car, check-in and at your gate in Acapulco is never less than two minutes. At the Mexico City airport, however, for whatever reason, they have hired only people in wheelchairs as security guards and paper checkers to enter into the airport.
A 50 year old, overweight woman in a wheelchair was checking my papers and it took an unacceptable amount of time as she peered at my documents and I made a few motions to let her know my dissatisfaction with the process. She sensed it and looked up at me and said, "I'm sorry, but I am here to protect you."
I took a deep breath and didn't bother pointing out that, perhaps, I don't need the protection of an old fat lady in a wheelchair.
Then, I flew into a third world airport. LAX. Of course, I was forced to go through security again for my connection to Boston (and then drive to New Hampshire) and I opted out of the human microwave machine. Qing, a 4'9" man from China was chosen to feel every part of my body.
As he did, I showed some unhappiness with the process. He stopped, looked up at me and said, "Yu know, I just here ah proteh you". I looked down at Qing, but bit my tongue… I think he was surprised I didn't thank him for his service.
I'm so tired of people protecting me. I'm pretty sure I can protect myself more than the woman in the wheelchair or Qing. My chihuahuas could protect me more than Qing or la Senora en la silla. Definitely ankles would get nipped up with my chihuahuas should anyone agress against me. And the yapping could cause short term hearing loss.
DEPRESSIONVILLE
I really can't take these small Amerikan or Kanadian towns. It's just a personal preference. And, I think, the lack of sunlight plus living under complete oppression makes people act… strange. But I'm huddled up in my motel bed trying to keep warm now and counting the seconds until I can get to a more natural, warmer place. Maybe that's why I am not so concerned with my own safety or needing to be extorted to pay for other people to protect me… because if I had to stay another few days in the USSA I'd really rather be dead.
Sorry to keep this so short but I am either going to drink myself into numbness to wait out the last few hours here or, better, someone actually does kill me and I go into the Big Sleep.
Hopefully, I'll soon be back in the freest country in North America, Mexico, and will have some better stories next week. Although, I am scheduled to be in Dallas next week for the Liberty Masterminds Symposium. But, at least, it should be warmer.
