As the Founding Director of the Ludwig von Mises Institute of Canada, my goal has been to bring the teachings of Austrian economics and libertarian political philosophy to a country that is not so infatuated with the idea of a totally free society. Let’s just say, it hasn’t been an easy journey thus far. A country with the phrase “good government” in its motto can’t be changed overnight. But for almost half a decade now, we have tirelessly worked to teach the Canadian people the value of private property, sound money, liberty, and the most dangerous aspects of tyrannical government.
Now, I am happy to announce that our mission has taken the next step. Recently we welcomed Eric Sprott, Chief Executive Officer, and Senior Portfolio Manager of Sprott Asset Management LP and Chairman of Sprott Inc., to our newly formed Advisory Board. Mr. Sprott is a renowned investing expert and one of the leading champions of gold and silver investment in the world. Together, we hope to expand the scope of influence of Mises Canada and begin a new revolution of ideas.
Here at the Dollar Vigilante, we are also heavily influenced by the Austrian school of economics and libertarian theory. From Carl Menger, we know the crucial role money plays in society and why it is better kept out of the hand of government. From the prominent writings of Ludwig von Mises, we know why central banks are bad and counter-productive to a healthy economy. From the prolific work of Murray Rothbard, we know why the state is evil and why it threatens our very prosperity. And from F.A. Hayek, we know why free individuals are better at producing wealth than any type of centralized, planning committee.
Without knowledge, action is useless. So at the Dollar Vigilante, we take the teachings of the great Austrian economists and use it to help you preserve your prosperity in a time of power-hungry governments. We bequeath to you the know-how to navigate the marketplace and protect yourself from inflation and currency destruction. None of what we do would be possible without the foregone teachings from some of the greatest economic thinkers to live in the 20th century.
