SMART METERS ETC.
Like always about evil energy companies, there is a lot of BS.
1. May-be you can refuse the smart meter on the outside of your home, but how is it your business to tell the power company what device they may or may not have installed on their utility pole right before the wire leading to your home? This argument shows that the issue is not in our decision scope, and is simply a bickering over the actual location of a recorder.
2. Most of these folks who rebel about "radiation" produced by the meters, have no problems yaking on their cell phones all day, using Wi-Fi because they are just too lazy to plug a network wire, and expose their entire life through texting and browsing, video watching and socializing using their phones, computers and even TVs to whole world, not only to the Facebook.
They have no problems posting their opinions for the whole world to see, photos, including very private ones, using trackable credit cards everywhere, but they object to the collection of the information such as when they turn their computers on and off, as if their computer does not immediately send that information anyway. Refrigerator may not yet do that, but it soon will, and the microwave, and even the lamp bulb.
3. The reason the energy companies install these are the following:
– it is easier and more reliable to collect the usage account data by simply driving by, rather than meeting your nasty dog face to face.
– energy companies are paranoid too. They don't necessarily trust the meter recorder man to not be your friend.
– smart meters supposed to be able to detect the tampering, because everything that you do to them is being recorded and / or sent.
– (nasty) electric companies are regulated by your representatives! You voted for that! Therefore, their model of business has nothing to do with capitalism. As a consequence, they are NOT looking to sell more electricity, but actually sell less. They plan to achieve that by having you sign up to an agreement where you get slightly cheaper rate if you allow them to cut your energy off using this smart meter, when they need the energy (peak hours).
4. On one hand you vote to make drugs illegal, and then on the other you object when the police use the smart meter data to deduce that you're growing something. Stop voting. Stop giving your consent.

The only way to fix the smart meter problem is to move somewhere far behind the US and Europe in terms of this technology. Expatriating does not mean just finding a country with a good economy. There are a handful of criteria that one should look into, and the actions of electricity companies in each country could be one of them, depending on each individual's concern. The people at TDV Passports can help you learn things of the many countries to which you could expatriate and earn citizenship in. I prefer the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere because generally speaking, in terms of these sorts of things, the countries are a bit behind the north, although there are indubitably exceptions.
I commend Kevin's bravery by writing to and demanding things of his elected officials. He has been pretty much in their face, and the public article was one outlet (which he sent to his elected reps). Kevin and I are good pals and I know he is fighting the good fight. But, wait until you hear what has happened since we published his article! I wouldn't be surprised if he landed in jail, in which case our follow-up article will have to be a phone call from jail.

China and Japan were at each others throats long before the United States got involved. It is interesting to me that the concept of "temperance" among countries was mentioned. If the United States withdrew its military from the region, the reason for Japan and China (and for that matter Taiwan) hating each other still remains. How long would it be before any of those nations started fighting each other for these inhabited rocks with or without the US being in the region? Without the US, Japan would be free to rearm on its own and China would probably occupy the islands themselves and dare Japan to remove them. Regardless of one's opinion about the US military, it has more than enough capability to turn the tide in an engagement. The balance of power in that region would become very skewed if the US suddenly departed. I find it amusing that the US is always painted as the bad guy.

Andrew…the article states, " Japan annexed the islands in 1895 after winning the First Sino-Japanese War" and cites the "history" between the 2 nations as one of three major reasons the area is a hotspot. I don't see any basis for your objection that "China and Japan were at each others throats long before the United States got involved."
And, yes, America's hands are not clean due to several of the issues I raised re: its actions. You write, "Without the US, Japan would be free to rearm on its own and China would probably occupy the islands themselves and dare Japan to remove them." Japan might rearm but it is bound international treaties and its own constitution not to step a military foot outside its own borders. Its greatest protection is international opinion. As to China occupying the islands…perhaps. If America decides to stay in the area, then a local conflict will become another global conflagration. There would be far worse things than the U.S. minding its own home and not "going in search of monsters abroad" as John Quincy Adams would say.
2ND AMENDMENT
You had me up until the last paragraph. Unlike the average European, the average American actually has a spine. The US government would never get away with such a thing, and what's more, they know it. The whole point of the 2nd amendment and having 350,000,000 guns in private hands is to keep the politicians from thinking they can pull crap like that.

I disagree. I think the Americans are being wiped out as we speak and they are being surveilled by a control grid which knows their whereabouts 100% of the time. It would not be very difficult for a nefarious state apparatus to start taking out people (or their guns) one at a time underneath the dark of night. In the meantime, the activists will stay at their computers or on their street corners typing or chanting while organized para-military forces diminish their ranks. Really think 350,000,000 guns mean anything at all against a stockpile of nuclear weapons? Don't think the leaders of the world will use them? They have before, and so there is evidence they will. It seems the "spine" of the Americans is 100% based on the firearms they have. Unfortunately, they won't be enough to save them.
