Well, the government vacation is over. National Parks will reopen, roads will be repaired, insurance companies will get paid, your money will be stolen and wasted. Sigh. It was nice while it lasted. Did we really notice? How often do you go to the Smithsonian on any given week?

SPYING ON BRAZIL
Wouldn't it be a simple matter [for the US government] to tap into an underwater fibre optic cable should Brazil decide to go ahead with the expense of stringing one?

Sure, it's technically possible, but I'm sure that Brazil would count on the fact that such an easily detectable act would be a potential international "incident". As an example, the US "could" just nuke any country that annoyed them, but the ramifications would just be too costly.
Though in these late stages of imperial overreach, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the US saw a Brazilian cable as a possible channel for "terrorist" and prohibited plant and chemical dealers or tax "cheats" to communicate without the NSA being able to monitor them. So who knows how the extremely dangerous US government will react should Brazilian government actually try to go ahead with that plan. Maybe the US will blow it up under the umbrella of fighthing terrorism or winning the war on drugs (war on people) or making sure all their tax cattle pay their "fair share".
BUILDING WEALTH
Hi,
I am writing in the hopes that someone could point a fellow libertarian in the right direction for getting started building wealth. I have seen Jeff talk about getting my assets out of the country but honestly I have none. I have no real savings to speak of and nothing to my name. I do not make a lot of money and grew up in a very blue collar home where investment is a magic outside of our world. Where do I start? Is there something I should read? I really want to change this..

To paraphrase the ski instructor from "South Park", Darrin: If you're trying to build wealth in the USSA, you're gonna have a bad time. Quite simply, Amerika is no longer a place where people are allowed to build wealth. You can't even start a business because of red tape. There is so much regulation in the way at the local level. And, even if you through some miracle manage to get all the necessary clearances to create something useful or sell your goods or services, you will have so much of your profits stolen (taxed) that you will quickly decide it's not worth the effort.
Even when you think you are doing everything by the book, there is guaranteed to be some regulation among the hundreds of thousands that you didn't know about, and which you are breaking, and which the feds can use as an excuse to shut down your business at any time. Little kids can't even open a lemonade stand in the "land of the free" without the right permissions from the government.
It is so much easier to start a business in so many other countries. I come up with countless business ideas all the time, but I would never consider trying them in the US. I happily serve US customers who need TDV's services to help protect them from the US government. But I would never base headquarter a business in the US or keep my money or person there…or anywhere in the fasco-communist and rapidly declining Western world.
Having said that, if you are absolutely stuck in the US and still want to try to make a go of it, then I recommend you read TDV Homegrown which was created to help people just like you. THE THIRD AMENDMENT
[The Third Amendment reads,] "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."
I read that as saying soldiers may NOT be quartered in your house UNLESS there is a specific law that lays out just when and how that may be done. As the Constitution itself does not lay out those particulars or create such a law, such laws would be reserved to the individual STATES, as per the Constitution, and not to the federal government. Am I wrong?

Rulers don't care about rules. The whole point of being a ruler is that the rules aren't objective; they are a matter of your whim. So don't waste your time worrying about what the law says. Wasn't the Constitution and the law supposed to keep the government from taking half your income and listening to all your communications and reading all your letters?
Free your mind from the law and hoping that the thugs who make you obey it will play nice. Truly embrace freedom, the good stuff that exists beyond paper promises from the state to limit itself.
