“The police do not consider their job to protect you. They used to at least pay lip service to “keeping the peace”, but nowadays in the USSA it is clear their job is to enforce the law. In fasco-communist America, the law stopped being about your protection decades ago. The law is about the expansion of state power and control. That's why there are so many of them, with more coming all the time.
There are literally thousands upon thousands of reasons in the Federal Code for the police to arrest you. That's the very essence of a police state. Everything is literally a crime. As Lao Tsu said in the 6th century, BC: "The more artificial taboos and restrictions there are in the world, the more the people are impoverished…The more that laws and regulations are given prominence, the more thieves and robbers there will be.”

Power Grab: The EU Political Elites’ Fig Leaf of Legitimacy
In the wake of their surprise “win” of a Nobel Peace Prize, TDV contributor Richard Cantillon considers the history of the self-congratulatory failure that is the European Union.
“It is not economically possible to have a sound and sustainable monetary union without at the same time having fiscal union. Nation state democracies have that combination and it is legitimized through having a political union. The EU introduced monetary union in the 1990s without either fiscal or political union. This was done surreptitiously, irresponsibly but deliberately. Most discerning observers at the time knew that the design was flawed and would eventually create a crisis. The political elites at the time were informed. They chose to ignore the design weakness; arguably seeing it as an opportunity to hasten political union at a later date. ”

Anything provided by government is paid for with stolen money and is inherently of lower quality than that which would be provided by the market. Public policing will always fall short of its supposed goal of protecting people and instead just become a tool of enforcing the laws of the ruling class. Like those in the hip hop community, anarcho-capitalists can never see the police as anything other than overseers on the plantation that is the state.”

TDV Senior Analyst Ed Bugos looks into the latest economist to be celebrated with the Nobel Prize, and what the Nobel committee’s failings could learn from Ludwig von Mises.
“Witness the latest economist to win the Nobel Prize from the Swedes, who I’m certain lead the world in economic nonsense, for allegedly solving the unsolvable knowledge and calculation problems of central planners.
Huh?
Rather than explaining all that is wrong in their problem solving, in the interest of brevity let me just ask: did you mean you didn’t know Ludwig von Mises showed that this kind of thing was impossible almost 100 years ago?”
