It's the end of another week with lots happening to our heroic whistleblowers. Snowden has (finally) been granted asylum in Russia and Manning has been cleared of the most serious charge and now instead of life in prison he only faces over a century in prison.
These guys know very well that being within USSA borders isn't the best option for people who care about things like privacy and liberty. So why are you not in Galt's Gulch, Chile yet?

Dear TDV,
Here's how completely F****D the police is across the north. This happened in Toronto. Watch as they shoot the guy three times, then six more times and then Tazer him to be sure he's dead… they were only 12 cops there…for a guy branding a… wait for it… wait for it… a f***ing knife…
Soon I'll be cursing them from abroad…

Hi Dave,
I am originally from Kanada and was just there last week. The changes there are almost as stark as in the USSA. There is a chain of nice restaurants in Vancouver called Cactus Club and I hung out there quite a bit. Everytime I was there police dressed in black with bulletproof vests would come in with "gang squad" written on their back and they'd go around asking people for ID and running it through their system!
I asked one, very politely (so as to not get accosted or kidnapped), "Why are you guys doing this?"
He responded, "There is a lot of gang violence in Vancouver so we go around and try to identify problems before they start."
I said, "Well, there wouldn't be gangs at all if your employer, the government, didn't make plants illegal and create a black (free) market for them."
He replied, "I think we can get rid of all drugs but our superiors don't seem to want to do it. If we really wanted to we could crack down so hard on everyone that we'd kill the business."
I nearly choked so hard on my cigarette smoke that I almost had to sit down. I didn't even know how to respond to that. He really believes he can stop an entire peaceful, market-desired industry if only they could use brutal amounts of force and violence! And, then, on the other hand, he pointed out that the people who run the police really don't want to stop the trade… they just want all sorts of these problems to continue so they still have jobs.
In fact, during the riots in Vancouver a few years ago there is plenty of evidence that a) the police allowed the riot to get completely out of control before doing anything and b) even lit a few of their police cars on fire to spur on the crowds.
Then, of course, after the riots finally ended the police came out and said they could have done a better job but just need "more money".
Ah, government and collectived, socialized, monopolistic organizations… always creating the problems they say they need to extort you for to solve.
But, yes, be very careful in Kanada. The police are very similar to US style police now. In Vancouver a few years ago a man was tasered to death by police inside the Vancouver airport. You can see the video here.
He was in the customs area and obviously quite upset about something. I really don't blame him, I find the Vancouver customs goons to be some of the worst on Earth. I end up in a backroom upon arrival more than 50% of the time… so many times in the past that I used to know people by name back there.
In one instance, they went through all my things and told me to unlock my computer as they wanted to do a scan of it to look for, and I am not joking, "animal porn". They had my computer for about 45 minutes before giving it back. Luckily I'm not into beastiality! I've seen some really cute cows but never really felt that way about them.
I've felt very similar to that man in the video above at times but I never get that physically angry… I don't need 5 guys in SWAT gear tackling me. I just prefer not to go to countries like Kanada and the USSA unless I absolutely have to and every month that passes I am getting closer to not going there under any circumstance. It's just too dangerous. Everytime I do have to go up to Canada or the US my Mexican friends beg me to be careful… they know how dangerous it is up there too.
SNITCHES GET STICHES
[As with Snowden], Manning joined The Mob, and mobsters don't like it when one of their own hired thugs turns against them. None of this is surprising, or even news. In any other gang these guys would be Jimmy Hoffa's new neighbors.
I won't put Kokesh in the same class although he too was once one of their paid thugs. He's just an attention seeking clown that's really more of an embarassment than an asset. Nevertheless he tried the dangerous tactic of taunting the gangsters and now he has lost. He doesn't deserve it but still he chose to play his game using their rules which were already stacked against him.
The best way is not to play "activist" but to stay under their radar as much as possible to enable yourself to live and prosper, letting your own peaceful form prosperity be the message for others.

Good point on Manning, Dana. The state may not like loudmouth liberty-lovers…but it especially hates turncoats. And it's best to get out of the monster's way. Why live on the edge of the smoking volcano, right?
We're not about activism here at TDV. We very much prefer discretion to pointless valor. While we do appreciate the sentiment and the fire of those who want to confront the state directly and roll back its power…we figure that's a needless sacrifice. The state is gonna state. Best to fight it with ideas and make sure to stay out of its way. That's why we offer passports and strategically chosen foreign real estate for those living in the geographic region of the biggest, baddest government the world has ever seen.
I really don't think there is any point in trying to "take back America" and such. The disease of collectivized violence has to run its course. The fat lady has to sing.The ship has to sink. In the meantime folks like all of us TDVers have to keep the conversation going and get on the lifeboats.
On Kokesh, he is a good friend of us here at TDV and if he is a clown, he is the most noble clown we've ever met. Spending a few years in a cage just to wake people up to their loss of liberties is our kind of clown and we appreciate his sacrifice – but don't recommend it to others.
