Is the NSA Changing Bank Accounts?
Wendy McElroy considers where else the government is intruding on your life.
“The NSA stores the financial information in a databank called Tracfin. (An identically-named database was created in France in 1990 with the stated goal of tracking illegal financial transactions; it is not clear if the database used by the NSA is somehow connected.) According to Der Spiegel, Tracfin “in 2011 contained 180 million records. Some 84 percent of the data is from credit card transactions.”
If the NSA is monitoring transactions in the Middle East and Germany, then how likely is it to be tracking money within US borders? This is especially likely given that leaked documents from Snowden indicate the NSA has been tracking the Visa credit card system. Visa offered a carefully worded response in which it claimed not to know of any “unauthorized” access to its database. As for other large US financial institutions, it would be surprising if they refused to share information with a government responsible for their economic dominance.”

Rap Group Dead Prez Member Barred From Flying Due to Tattoos
Jeff Berwick on the latest absurdity in the USSA’s “friendly” skies.
“In fascism, corporations do the bidding of government. How this could affect you today is illustrated poignantly in the following example.
Rapper/DJ Michael “mikeflo” Flowers has claimed he was removed from an Alaska Airlines (a Delta Air Lines partner) flight last summer because airline employees felt “uncomfortable” due to Mike's tattoos on his face. Although Mike had a prior relationship with the airline, flying thousands of miles with them, he was still forbidden from flying. At the time of press, the airline had yet to make a comment regarding Mikeflo's inconvenience.”

" his will be the fourth consecutive emigration of the last three generations of my immediate family. My grandparents emigrated from Portugal to Mozambique during the 1940s and 50s in search of a better life. The massive and undeveloped colony seemed like the land of milk and honey for those willing to get their hands dirty. A few decades later my parents-to-be immigrated to South Africa as Mozambique headed towards what would become a 10-year war for independence. Then when I was just 4 years old they decided that a fascist state fully enveloped with the evils of apartheid was no place to raise a child. My mother was fortunate enough to get a work visa into the United States and that’s where we’ve been ever since.”

2013: The Year of Marijuana, Anti-War, & Anarchy?

"Should 2013 be remembered as the year in which the War On Drugs, war, and statism all reached all time popularity lows?
For sure, the US is changing dramatically and quickly.
Pew Research Center found a large range of "data milestones, breakthroughs, peaks and valleys in 2013," such as record support for same-sex marriage and the legalization of weed. But more importantly (yes, even more important than weed), record levels of distrust of the federal government. Perhaps this is because, for the first time in 2013, 50% of the population received its news from the internet.”
