The drive to Los Angeles from San Diego is quite a simple one. Southern California is merely one big concrete island, one big city…with one catch: the nation's second biggest military base, Camp Pendleton, sits approximately in the southwest of the region.
To get to LA from San Diego, one must travel along Interstate & Defense Highway 5, which is part of the Dwight D Eisenhower National System of Interstate & Defense Highways.
I arrived in LA via the defense highway around 10 PM the night before the United We Stand Festival and drove down Sunset, which was seemingly paved with red-and-blue flashing lights. It was a dizzying array of color and light throughout the city. What was uniquely American is that most of the lights came from police cars.
I met up with Jeff Berwick at 10pm at the hotel, and, after hanging out with some Dollar Vigilantes, we retired shortly thereafter.
The next morning I awoke promptly at 8am. I had to put some quarters into my car.
At 10am I left the hotel room to move the car, as there was a 2 hour maximum for all parking spots. I drove around and all the open curb-space had "No Parking Anytime, Except Those With District 11 Permits" signs in plain view. I found some more 2 hour parking.
The 12pm car move was followed by a delightful lunch with Foster Gamble and his wife Kimberly Carter Gamble, Jeff Berwick, Luke Rudowski and a mutual friend, also named Kimberly. We discussed free energy, free markets, free beings, free gold, and many of the different factors at play today on our planet, and how much opportunity there truly is. I learned of something I intend to research: "the gold warriors" who have gold stockpiles and a plan to make the world freer. I then interviewed Luke for my show Our Very Own Special Show, and learned about Luke's indiegogo campaign, which is something you should all look into supporting Luke for. Luke has done an amazing job "pissing people off." Luke has done much more. He has informed himself and he has helped to define "the new media."
The 4pm car move was the departure for the United We Stand Fest.
We arrived a bit early and walked in. The bill was quite bizarre, and most of the kids showing up were only there to see Immortal Technique and Wu Tang Clan. Let me tell you, it is pretty strange to see a cloud of marijuana smoke from the crowd consume Richard Gage as he talks about some strange thing called "Building 7" to a bunch of young hip hop fans. After former green party presidential candidate Jill Stein promised to save the environment by getting everyone jobs and fair wages, and Foster Gamble suggested that free energy exists and is being suppressed, a metal band played.
This sort of dynamic continued the rest of the night. Personalities like Luke Rudowski, Ben Swann, Abby Martin, Jeff Berwick and Adam Kokesh stood "arm-in-arm" with anarcho-communists who threw their fists in the air and responded most eagerly to snappy slogans.
But, I had a great time at the event. I enjoyed the diversity. There were people like Adam, Luke, Abby and Jeff working non-stop to make things happen and get things done. The socialists and communists were fun to watch if not a bit more ideological. One stole a dollar from me right in front of my face (I left it on a bar to tip for a water).
"You just stole my dollar." I said, matter-of-factly. I was totally taken off-guard and bewildered.
He put it in his pockets then held his empty hands up. I laughed.
"Ah, nevermind."
I thought to myself that he would benefit from the TDV Newsletter. It might teach him about money, hardwork and freedom.

“Forget school. Instead, travel with your kids. And forget college, get them an around-the-world plane ticket and watch them excel above their peers in terms of understanding.
People think it costs a lot of money to take this route and is very difficult, which is funny, considering that school can be way more expensive and the student loans are the most difficult part of all…way more difficult than travel or the classes you're actually paying for. Becoming an indentured servant does not come cheaply.
So what's holding you back? Nothing, really…except the obstacles in your own mind.”

“Homeschooling is swiftly becoming a non-option for people in the United States like in some other countries. Bills to restrict and control homeschoolers are routine in the US. Getting you and your family out of the United States is swiftly becoming your only options for protecting your children from overbearing school officials and the armed thugs they call to intimidate their students.”
