This weekend, if you are unfortunate enough to be in the USSA like me and go out, you'll be reminded of why all the men in your family were sent off to war in decades past, traumatized, and possibly even brutally murdered in a bloody end to their once beautiful life: So that you can be intimidated, at best, and, at worst, arrested and extorted by your local police agency as the US economy collapses.
Certainly, after speaking to most of the police officers in your town, you'll see most of them are not concerned with your safety. They think they look really tough with their badges and guns, not caring most people hate them. And not really quite understanding why all they do, 99% of the time, is hand out tickets for petty infractions to mostly poor people. And what's their best probable cause on a weekend like this weekend? Your existence during the ‘Maximum Enforcement' Weekend… Oh, how collectivist holidays make it so easy for the police to pick-off their prey: You.
When I went out last night for a friend's engagement party, I saw it first hand in my hometown of Encinitas. I saw twenty police cars in about 15 minutes of being on the street. The police cars were not only local police, but came from agencies whose districts lie one-hour away. I had never seen anything like it in my hometown. I kept my mouth shut. You never want to bring down the mood when you're out “having a good time.” After all, you only have until 2am to do so.
I didn't drink last night, but I knew to have my best enslaved driving manners to-and-from the bar. That meant a) driving on backstreets, b) making complete stops at STOP signs c) coming off the complete stop quickly so as to not look overly cautious d) not driving with hands at 10-2 so as to not look overly cautious among other tactics and e) driving the exact speed limit, not under nor over. I also made sure to use my best exfoliant on my face before headed out because, as I read last week, acne is probable cause for doing drugs these days. Remember, every moment you are in a car driving on communist style centrally planned potholed roads, your life is in danger, especially over the ‘Maximum Enforcement' Weekend.

Before we get to the review, here’s a look at what we wrote about in this week’s subscriber only TDV Dispatch.

UBS paid “only” $885 million when it misrepresented mortgage-backed bonds during the housing bubble. Surely, as CS swallows these new fines, banks the world over are shuddering.”
