Well, here we sit (still) on the precipice of war. Heck, we've been in war for the last few decades and it shocked me to meet a 15 year old anarchist recently who has known nothing except the US occupying the Middle East for his lifetime. In fact, it's almost been total war and occupation for those in the US for the last 40 years and it is truly sad and repugnant to see how that has changed John Kerry from a so-called anti-war person (although it was likely just an act and a way to avoid him being in a body bag) to a warmonger.
And yet, we’d bet 98% of ‘Mericans couldn’t find Syria on a map.

ADVICE ON CHILE
Hi Jeff,
I am planning on a trip to Santiago, Chile in January for a week or so to see what it is like in a more free country. I have what it takes to be productive and successful as I've proven in the US my entire life. I'm hoping to get out of the US before the dollar collapse as Peter Schiff and others have warned.
Can you point me to sites or advice on what I should look for? My gal and I plan on starting a small business there for a more lucrative life style. I've seen your YouTube special on Galt's Gulch but I don't have enough capital savings for land ownership at this time.
Any help on getting started or what to look for would help.

First, have no fear, you don't need a large amount of capital to begin your adventure into a more free world. If you can't, currently, afford to purchase at a place like Galt's Gulch Chile (GGC) you could, very easily, rent an apartment on the outskirts of GGC in the town called Curacavi for less than $200/month and begin creating value for people and creating wealth for the world by finding ways to help those with more assets. I've met hundreds of people who are making the trip down who are all self-made men and women and almost all are of an entreprenurial mindset. There will be nothing but opportunity in that area. Not to mention the entire area around Santiago and Vina del Mar, the cities between which GGC is very well situated.
I've written in the TDV subscription letter about numerous opportunities I've already seen in that area. And, I have a new one I'll soon be unveiling which should easily be a million-dollar business in the next few years that won't take a lot of capital, just hard work and perseverance. Hi PF,
First, let me correct you. "We" aren't at war with anyone. The word "we" grinds my ears like nails on a public skool chalkboard. I have now decided that there are only two times where the word "we" should be used. If you are describing a group of individuals that you can thoroughly and coherently identify (friends, family or a voluntary group or movement) or if you are describing the entire human race.
Americans are not a "we". Canadians are not a "we". Anarchists can, very vaguely, be a "we" and your friends and family can be a "we", but any other use of the word "we" that doesn't define the entire human race is an abomination of language, in my opinion.
That said, it's definitely not a coincidence that the countries most under attack have not bowed to the Western financial elites, PF. And it's not strange or shocking either. This is exactly how you would expect gangsters to act. People think that "democratically elected" governments and their monster pet central banks are civilized. Maybe it's because all these guys wear nice suits.. just like the mafia. The only difference, after all, between mafia and government is size and, perhaps to a small degree, "legitimacy" in the eyes of their victims.
But governments are in the business of coercion…of making offers that people can't refuse. Of course they're going to make examples violently of other gangsters who don't play ball. And, not only that, they are going to steal money from other people and use it to expand their territory and control.
However, something has happened recently. Thanks to the internet people all over the world are waking up. Watch John McCain squirm like a pathetic, demented sociopath when confronted by the light of truth… in this case, a Syrian women who has had one of her family members killed there, through the hands of US/CIA backing/funding of the Al-CIAda rebels.
How poignant is it that the same US government that killed millions in Vietnam fighting "communists" is now, at its core communist? How poignant is it that the same US government that was behind the attacks on 9/11 are now going to a vote in congress to drop bombs on the Syrian people in support of the muslim extremists… and that vote will happen on September 11th?
People are waking up. We are close to peace and harmony and people like McCain, Obama, Rockefeller and the Rothschilds will turn into ash before our very eyes. Trust me on this one.

Most of the anarchists and libertarians that I personally know are of modest means, and some have barely two nickels to rub together. All of them are generous and empathetic folk, some almost to a fault. What I would like to see among my crowd, however, is more of a tribal attitude. Too many – and I incude myself – tend to be loners and introverts.

First of all, LJ, I certainly fit the bill: a cheery loner who is usually light on cash yet embarrassingly generous…and that generosity is as much a symptom of being loose with money as it is a manifestation of a charitable spirit. Honestly I suspect my devil-may-care approach to spending money on intensely gratifying experiences is the offspring of my nihilism and my hedonism. We're all dead before we know it and the statist world sucks anyway. Grab your pleasures when and where you can.
In any case, you are right: individual anarchists and libertarians really are, as a group, a bunch of introverted loners. I'd read somewhere that most liberty and voluntaryist types test as INTJ on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality test. I wrote an article about it and invited readers to take the test and submit their results. Surprise! Well over 90% of the anarchist and libertarian audience of this anarcho-capitalist newsletter was INTJ or INTP with the former claiming the majority by a wide margin.
As I never get tired of pointing out, this does not mean that only INTJ or INTP types can be anarchists or libertarians. It simply means that the introverts in the rational group (NT for iNtuitive Thinking), whether they be Judging (J) or Perceiving (P) have the traits that make them most likely to embrace a logical philosophy that flies in the face of a ten thousand-year-old cultural addiction to solving problems with a centralized monopoly on violence.
The Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judgers and Perceivers are the ones who come up with mind-blowing realizations like, "Hey, the speed of light doesn't change no matter how fast you are going relative to light because time moves differently for an object depending on the relative speed of the object." It's just the nature of the introverted rationals to spend a lot of time in their own heads and working towards greater truths. And these truths tend to involve elegantly simple conclusions (the speed of light is constant…gravity is the warping of spacetime by the mass of objects…aggression is wrong despite cover words like "authorities", "police" and "government") that the other personality types just can't overcome their prior programming to grasp.
And for the record, Introversion does not have anything to do with shyness. Introversion just means that interaction with others is draining and alone time is needed to recharge. Extraverts are the opposite. But introverts can be bold and gregarious. They just need time to themselves to regroup after a given amount of social interaction.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to be alone for a while.
