I am still in Germany. I don't really want to leave. The US is boring. Have you never left the US, if even for a short time? If not, do us all a favor and leave now. Gain perspective, see the world from a new lense.
Yesterday I went to Teufelsberg. It was a little slice of American Pie! As an old NSA Listening Station, Field Station Berlin eavesdropped on eastern communications. (as well as european public and private communications) It was but one part of a secret program called Echelon in which European private and public communications were tapped. Reports first leaked of this in the late-1980's and by 2000 there were European Parliament reports and US Congress investigations going on. The US Congress was worried the NSA might use the technology to spy on US citizens. Yawn…
Truth be told, the Edward Snowden revelations were really just the logical extensions of the Echelon program.
Today, Field Station Berlin, closed in 1992, is somewhat of a monument. People from Berlin (and all over Europe) go to Teuffelsberg, a mountain made of the rubble from post-World War II Berlin on which Field Station Berlin stands, in order to decorate the radomes with graffiti.

The site has only grown more ominous in the wake of the NSA revelations, and those revelations have not fallen on deaf ears here in Germany, where in September it was made public by Spiegel that the US government had wiretapped Chancellor Angela Merkel's telephone. The government was shaken, and the German government chose the gravest words they could choose for an ally. Merkel phoned Obama. They spoke in English. He apologized. Probably, nothing has changed. You can see here, the perfectly located American Embassy for spying on politicians in Germany, with the windowless spy apparatus on top made out of concrete.
With each passing revelation, the US loses power, and the chances of its economy ever stepping back from the abyss and the political system ever gaining the respect of others decreases.

We see government after government imposing impossible taxation on its people. What is happening all over the world, including Italy, is that more and more people – in particular the wealthy ones – are moving their bank accounts into more friendly jurisdictions (Italian businesses are fleeing like refugees.), Eurozone or not. Some will cease accepting wire transfers, and others will accept payment in bitcoin and/or precious metals.

What your kids really learning in school?
“You’ll know when it pops off,” says Robert Bowen, the school’s campus police officer. “If you get engaged with one of the shooters, you’ll know it," he tells students prior to an active shooter drill in school.
He did not include that they would "know it" because the images might scar them for life.
“When you get shot, you need to close your fingers and keep ‘em in,” adds Tammy Kozinski, the drama teacher. “When the bad guy and the police come through, they’ll step all over you, and who will be saying they’re sorry?”
“Nobody!” the students scream in unison.

Early immigrants fled Europe to America because the New World offered a glistening promise: the classless society. It was not a society without rich and poor because freedom always produces an inequality of results. It was a society in which people were equal under fair laws and they could move fluidly from one class to another. The North American dream said people could rise by merit and hard work into economic independence and become the rulers of their own lives.
